Gremlin in the Garbage
by Rob Parker
About a year ago, I was visiting my parents in Ohio when something really weird happened to me. They lived in this small house in the suburbs next to this big park. I was doing the dishes when I heard this noise from the back of the house by the trash cans. It was really loud and sounded like a trash can had been knocked over. At first I thought that it was a raccoon and went outside with my flashlight to scare it off.
When I shone the light at the creature, I realized that it was no raccoon. This creature could only be described as a gremlin. It was about a foot tall and had fairly large ears. It was covered in a scaly like skin and had small claws on its hands that it was using to rip into the trash bag. It was terrified of me and ran away into the park using its arms to push of the ground, but was extremely speedy, and I couldn't have caught up with it if I tried. When my parents asked me what it was outside, I lied and told them I saw a raccoon as I didn't know how they would take the news. After reading your story, "Gremlin" from August 2006, it got me wondering: How many different kinds of species are out there?
