Gravestone Psychometry
by Isabelle T.

This story took place in Lac La Biche, Alberta when I was in my thirties. I was with my sister, my children, and my nieces and it was our last day in Lac La Biche. Therefore, we decided to go to the old Mission that was said to be haunted by old priests who had been killed by the natives. We had been to this Mission before and knew of its haunting, but my sister and I were unafraid due to the fact of seeing ghosts all our lives.

I came across an old grave, one that had dust all over it. I bent down and brushed the dust off, the name was still illegible. As I made contact with the gravestone, I felt a chill run up my arm, like an electric current. As we drove to the hotel next to the airport, I started to have a migraine. This was common for me, since I have migraines often. This migraine was different, it was as if electricity was running through my head.

As my sister put the kids in a separate room, she lay me down on the bed. I kept seeing myself as a little girl running through a field. At the end of the field there was a barn with a man leaning on it. This man had a large mustache and was very angry at me. In the dream my name was Emma La Douceur and I was half Native American, common for people born in the Mission. Then I saw myself on a bed, a woman who appeared to be native was crouching over me. I felt so cold, I knew I was dying. My sister, in the hotel room said she heard me saying, "I'm dying, mommy. I'm going to die." She then saw me shaking uncontrollably. She yelled at the top of her lungs, "You are not my sister! Leave this body now!" And it did.

I later looked at a book with a picture of all the families who worked at the mission. There he was, the man with the moustache. And sitting at his feet, Emma La Douceur. I still have this book, but have not looked at for a while.
