"LOYD AUERBACH ON GHOSTS" > Page 1, 2, 3, 4
Briefly, what's the most remarkable case you've investigated?
Honestly, this is a tough one to answer, especially briefly. I have had cases where we have witnessed objects moving, cases where the ghosts (via a witness or psychic) provided verifiable information, and cases in which environmental factors led to a family believing their house was haunted.
I have many of my cases written up in my articles for FATE magazine, which can be downloaded from my website at www.mindreader.com/fate

What should people do if they believe their house is haunted?
First, NOT believe their house is haunted. All too many of the calls I get are filtered out because of normal (though often misleading) explanations. So, they should be skeptics first, looking for any and all other explanations before becoming upset about paranormal phenomena.
Second, they should NOT be afraid. This phenomena cannot hurt you (except psychologically, or in the case of poltergeist phenomena, if you duck into the path of a flying object). If it's an apparition, talk to him/her… ask what you can do for him/her. If no response, consider it a haunting, an interesting recording of some event from past history. If a poltergeist, play detective and try to learn who's under stress and help that person get past it.
But the above suggestions are quite simplistic. They should consider contacting someone who will actually try to figure out what's going on and help them, unlike most of the groups out there focused on getting spirit orb pictures or EVP. Such evidence can aid the growing amount of data, but can't help the people being upset by the phenomena.
There's excellent basic information on apparitions, hauntings and poltergeists available through the page of my website dealing with the Office of Paranormal Investigations, at www.mindreader.com/opi. ![]()
