"THE MAY 5 ALIGNMENT" > Page 1, 2

The Good News

  • The Shift to Your Light Body. I'll bet you didn't even know you had a light body. Well you do, according to "The Great Shift of May 5, 2000," which says May 5 would be a "Day of Epiphany for the Earth plane when a great Light Shift will occur that will bring you out of darkness. It is a major shift for the Light Workers of the world when every Light Worker on Earth has the opportunity to shift their embodiment process to their Light Body." I hope you were not operating any heavy machinery because these folks say your body would start to lose its density as it begins to move toward "light emergence." They also say this isn't the first time an alignment of this intensity has taken place: "The last time an alignment occurred this close was 2,004 years ago - the day Christ Consciousness arrived in the Signature Cell of Jesus of Nazareth."

  • Get Healed. Lyn Hopkins and Shama of Wright Land, Malibu, Hawaii declared May 5 "World Healing Day," and they sponsored a ceremonial evening that began on May 4. They had nothing less in mind than to "consciously ground our partnership with Great Spirit as we set our collective intent for birthing the sacred New Age Dream." Whatever that is.
  • Get Illuminated. Not to be outdone, Ken Kalb at Lightshift 2000 declared May 5 World Illumination Day. In typical mystical language he says, "This time provides a magnificent metaphysical portal of opportunity to make manifest all the growth and healing changes of the past cycle in our lives and in the world." Does this mean that from now on the cable guy will show up on schedule?

No News

  • No Tidal Waves. "There will be no unusual forces exerted by the planets on that day," says "The May 5, 2000 Planetary Alignment And Its Destructive Potential." The gravitational forces exerted on Earth by these planets would be minimal, according to the calculations provided on this site. "The tidal forces exerted on Earth from the five planets on the other side of the Sun are vastly smaller than those exerted by the Moon or the Sun. In fact, with the planets in the position they will be in on the big day, the largest tidal force from one of them will be from Jupiter, and it is about one five hundred thousandth the size of the tidal force exerted by the Moon on an average day!"
  • No Pole Shift. At Planetary Conjunctions, Dr. Brian Monson agrees that the alignment would have no extraordinary effects on Earth. "The gravitational force exerted by a planet on the Earth is completely swamped by the moon's gravitation," Monson says. He has put together two cool little movies that show how the relative positions of the planets changed during April and May of 2000.
  • No Earthquakes. Phil Plait at Bad Astronomy says that "planetary alignments have relatively little to do with earthquakes," and that portents of such disasters created by the May 5 alignment are, well... bad astronomy. "The last time this happened was in 1982," says Plait, "which, you may remember, is notable as the date on which the world did not end. Many doomsayers also point out that [this is also] the year of the millennium (they're wrong, but that's another Bad Astronomy issue altogether)!"
  • Ancient Superstitions. John Mosley at the Griffith Observatory also predicted that May 5 would be another ordinary day. At Planetary Alignments in 2000 he says, "Will the earth tilt over? No. Will tidal forces trigger earthquakes? No. Will the polar ice caps melt? No. Will you even be able to see the alignments? Not really. The thought that the world will end at a massing of the five planets dates back to at least 300 B.C. Despite all we've learned a lot about the mechanics of the solar system in the last 23 centuries, ancient superstitions remain in full health. This time a massing of the planets accompanies a change of millennium - a double whammy for those who believe such coincidences are turning points in a Master Plan for Human Fate."

When May 5 didn't provide anything as entertaining as an all-destructive pole shift or the revelation of our light bodies, we looked forward to the next astrological event. On May 31, 2000 we were treated to the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in front of Taurus. To some, this was to be a duplication of the Star of Bethlehem phenomenon back in 7.B.C. and the birth of Christ. Some people expected a supernatural event comparable to the birth of Jesus. Wasn't Madonna pregnant at that time?
