"I imagine that
psychic powers come with practice. I propose that we try to do a weekly 'Fortune
Telling Practice.' Each week, each person should do the following:
1. Find a quiet, secluded room.
2. Sit in a comfortable way.
3. Take 20 deep breaths.
4. Concentrate on the coming week.
5. Come up with 5 public predictions (like about local or world
events... stuff that can be checked).
6. Come up with 5 personal predictions (like "My dog is going to get
sick" or something in your immediate sphere).
7. Write these predictions down (post the 5 public ones here-- posting
the personal predictions are optional).
8. After the week has passed, mark off which predictions came true and
which ones didn't (for posted predictions, post your results).
I see this as an
ongoing exercise rather than a one-time deal, since I imagine most
of us will get mostly wrong predictions the first time around. "

The
Zener cards are a classic method for testing ESP. Designed in 1930 by Dr. Joseph
Banks Rhine in collaboration with his colleague Karl Zener at Duke University,
the Zener deck consists of 25 cards - five cards each of five symbols: a circle,
a star, a square, a cross and wavy lines.
.
.
.
The
object is to predict which symbol is on each card. In this electronic version,
we've modified the test somewhat, providing a few more chances to
"guess" the cards. You'll find six cards on this page and six on the
next page. Concentrate on each card before running your mouse over them to reveal the symbols.
(Be careful not to mouse over them before guessing.) Keep track of how many you
predict correctly, and on page three you can see how well
you scored statistically. Since you can only take this particular
test once, consider making your own Zener deck. You can find instructions
and printable symbol cards here.
And now, on with the test...
