Wells' The Time Machine to the Back to the Future film series to Mr. Peabody and Sherman's Way-Back Machine. The idea is tantalizing, of course, because it affords the possibility of not only viewing the truth of history first-hand, but also perhaps to interact with it and alter it. Likewise, venturing into the future lets us see the many marvels - or horrors - of future technology and civilization.
Time travel has also been the fascination of scientists, both professional and of the basement variety. Many phycisists believe that time travel is at least theoretically possible, although there seems to be no hard evidence that anyone from the future has traveled back in time to visit us today - unless, that is, you accept the conclusion of some ufologists who believe UFOs and "aliens" are actually Earth-resident time travelers. Believe it or not, there are some people who believe that time travel is possible today. And there are some who claim that they have actually accomplished the feat. Let's take a look at some of these paranormal claims. Stopping a Clock In 1990, John Bajak copyrighted (not patented) his invention of a Flux Capacitance Time Travel Circuit, and he even provided the schematics for it to KeelyNet. And it works, he says. It's amazing it never made the front page of the newspaper.
Bajak goes on to relate how his TV exploded, reassembled itself, talked to him and "threatened" him. Apparently, this time travel business can be dangerous. By his own admission, Bajak was taken to a psychiatric hospital where, I'm sure, he had a lot of time on his hands. The Radio Time Machine Then there's the guy who traveled back in time by accident. Although he does not identify himself, the author of this Reverse Time Travel Anecdote is part of the Emanon Inventor's Association. According to the story, this guy was trying to build a short-wave radio and shazam! was transported back in time!
After this incident, the experimenter unplugged his radio, got drunk and went to bed. There's no indication of whether or not there was an effort to duplicate the experiment or document the findings. Oh well... another profound loss for science. A Course in Miracles? Would you like to try time travel yourself? If so, take the online Course in Time Travel. Fortunately, you won't need any special machinery or electrodes plugged into your head. All you need, say the authors, is the ability to achieve a certain state of meditation - "open eye meditation" to be precise.
Although the authors provide step-by-step instructions for their form of time travel, unfortunately they do not offer any proof, anecdotal or otherwise, that they have actually accomplished it. Next Page > Time Slips More True StoriesMore True Stories |
