![]() CircleSpeak DVD ~ New Land Films Related Guide PicksCircleSpeak - A Journey into the Heart of Crop Circle CountryAn excellent documentaryGuide Rating - ![]() We've all seen the various documentaries and news magazine segments attempting to cover the crop circle phenomenon, but virtually all of them have come up short in one way or another. Finally, there is a serious, throrough documentary on the controversial mystery, and it's available on DVD. Fair and balancedCircleSpeak - A Journey into the Heart of Crop Circle Country, from New Land Films is without a doubt the best documentary I've seen about the crop formations that have been appearing in agricultural fields for decades now. Besides being beautifully photographed, this film presents the most objective and balanced exploration of the cereal phenomenon. The filmmakers, thankfully, don't seem to have an agenda and provide a forum for believers and skeptics alike -- as well as the circlemakers, who claim to be responsible for the formations.Evidence and "answers"The mark of a good documentary, often, is that is doesn't offer its own conclusions. And CircleSpeak doesn't. The film presents the mystery, looks at the best evidence, and listens to those who offer rational answers as well as those who say those answers are not sufficient.Great interviewsFocusing almost exclusively on the formations appearing in Britain, the filmmakers interview the people who have been in the thick of it for years. Colin Andrews, photographer Lucy Pringle, Doug Bower (of Doug and Dave infamy), Steve Alexander, Freddy Silva and many others present their opinions and results of many years of research, giving viewers a bounty of thought-provoking information.ExtrasThe DVD package takes advantage of the medium and offers almost two hours of extras, in addition to the documentary. It's fascinating listening to the more in-depth interviews with the experts. This is a very well done, comprehensive examination of crop circles, and I highly recommend it to anyone even casually interested in the phenomenon.Related Guide Picks |
