The Dancing Demon - Your True Tales - July 2009

BY CODY B.

By Stephen Wagner, About.com Guide

In Anchorage, Alaska, south side to be specific, there is my mom's former house (she has since moved). Ever since I could remember, my mom told me it was haunted. She told me to yell at them if I ever encountered such a thing, but in the following incident I was literally scared speechless.

It was a lazy Saturday morning in 1998. Since I was scared of the possibility of seeing ghosts, I shared a queen-size bed with my mom in her bedroom. I got out of the bed, quiet so as not to wake her, and went to the bathroom to have my morning pee. But at the end of the hallway, right before I got to the bathroom, was a demon. It was about 20 feet away. It was red-colored, was naked, had a tail, two horns and was, strangely, smiling.

It was about as tall as me, then eight years old. At the end of the hallway was a microwave, and it kept "dancing" to left side then the right side of it. It would poke its head to the left side of the microwave, hide, then poke its head out to the right, smiling each time. Like a jack-in-the-box. I wanted to scream so bad. I repeatedly opened my mouth to scream, but my voice couldn't.

I dashed to the bathroom, but as soon as I locked the door, I saw the knob moving and saw its shadow underneath the door. Finally, my voice was back and I screamed bloody murder and banged on the wall, the wall to the bedroom. My mom took what seemed like forever to wake up. Finally, she came out. I asked, "Didn't you see him?!" She asked, "What did you see?" I told her, and she believed me because she has had similar experiences, although never had she encountered a demon.

She searched the entire house, all 4,800 sq. ft., and found nothing. But the microwave, on a cart, had been moved back to its original spot, not in the center of the hallway like I saw it.
