Black-Eyed Kid Bit Me

BY EMILIE F.

Last week, my parents decided that they wanted to go on a little vacation. They asked if I wanted to go with them. I did! They were going to see Mount Rushmore, but I couldn't go because I have marching band practice all week.

Well, last night, on my way into the house from my car, I saw a man standing in front of my house. I saw that he was around my age, 15 or 16, maybe even 17. He was wearing a white T-shirt, a black leather jacket, black jeans, and black converse shoes. (I don't know why he was wearing that jacket or why he was wearing all black; it is summer time, and in Iowa the summer can get very hot, very early.)

I noticed that his skin seemed kind of pasty, not like most people from around my hometown, Muscatine, Iowa. I was already suspicious, considering that my parents were out of town, so I asked him what he wanted or if there was anyone he was looking for. He told me that he wanted a ride home because his mom was worried about him.

I started to feel uneasy, and I immediately thought that this could possibly be a BEK (black-eyed kid). Ever since my grandmother told me a story about BEKs, I was immediately obsessed with them. I did a lot of research, and I know that these things aren't safe to interact with.

I looked up into his eyes and, yes, his eyes were black. I told him that I was out of gas and that I'm not supposed to drive anyone around except myself and my parents. He kept trying to get me to give him a ride, and I kept saying no.

When be started yelling, I ran around the house to the back door. While I was trying to unlock the door, he grabbed me by the hair and started pulling me away from the door. (I don't like people touching my hair, so I was about to freak out.) He kept yelling at me to take him home, and I kept telling him no. I started hitting him, trying to get him to let go of my hair, when he grabbed my arm and bit me! It hurt really bad, so bad that I just fell right to the ground! Then he went down and bit my leg!

I started screaming when he first pulled my hair, and finally my neighbor came outside to see what was up. When my neighbor yelled for him to go away, the BEK stopped biting my leg to look up, then ran away. I hurt really bad and had started crying.

My neighbor called the police, then had his wife take me to the hospital. There was nothing wrong with me, except for the bite marks and a few scratches, which I didn't understand, because I just hurt so bad. They did blood tests, but nothing was wrong.

I called my step-dad and told him what happened, then called my aunt and uncle to ask them if I could stay at their house. (Their house is a duplex, and my grandparents live next door.) While I was telling my grandparents what happened, there was a knock at the door. I went up to answer it, since I was the closest to the door -- and there he was again!

I yelled at him to go away and leave me alone, but he just stood there. He didn't even say anything, he just stood there and stared at me. My grandad went to go get his gun and my grandma called the police. My grandad asked the police if he could shoot him, but they said no.

When the police got there, he ran away. Now, tonight (6-6-12), I was back at home when there was a knock on the door. I had a couple of friends over, and by that time I had already told them what happened. One of my guy friends said that if it was the BEK again, he was "going to go all Chuck Norris on that dude."

Well, I grabbed my phone and went to look through the peep hole in my door, and it was him again! From all the research I've done, I don't think this is normal behavior. I called the police, and again, when they got there he ran away. My parents are coming home tomorrow, and tonight the police have someone watching my house to make sure that he doesn't come around again.
