Connect the video camera to the TV to create video feedback.

For those you can't view the video, here's what you need to do:

Equipment

  • video camera
  • TV
  • cable to connect them
  • optional: computer and software

There are two methods for experimenting with ITC: the feedback method and the static method.

Feedback method

Connect the video camera directly to your television so that the TV is showing what the video camera is capturing. Set the video camera on a tripod or table of the appropriate height and aim the camera directly at the TV screen. Start recording.

This creates a video feedback loop and will result in some weird light patterns and images on the screen.

Tip: Be sure to lower or turn off the TV volume so you don't also have an audio feedback loop, which can be very loud and may even damage your speakers.

Watch the feedback. Some researchers claim to have seen faces and other images in this feedback. Because you're recording it, you can review the tape later.
