Last night (December 5,2008) while at work, in a veggie cannery in Oregon, I was at our chemical room with another sanitation supervisor getting chemicals needed to clean. An Amtrak Station is not far away, and we can hear and see trains so close we can board them! Freight trains come through as well -- the tracks are very busy next to our chemical room. The ground shakes when the trains go by and the whistles blow!
Last night, I said, "Look! Train coming." My friend and I waited for it to go by. He said it was creepy because he couldn't hear the train. I said, "You see it?" Then we heard nothing. And then I said, "Watch this!" The train lights came toward us and then slowly faded out. Where was the train? I joked and said, "Phantom train!" He said, "We can't have a phantom train because with a phantom train there would also be phantom people!" But we both saw the train lights and watched them vanish!
