It was 1990 or 1991 in East Chicago, Indiana, at my home. My best friend Nicky and I had a couple friends over from out of town for a few days. My friend and I slept in the bed, Sam and "Whiskeyman" slept on the mattress on the floor. Everyone had dozed off except me.
All of a sudden I heard some rumbling at the window in the living room. I woke Nicky and asked her if she heard the noise. She said no. She was sleep, so she dozed back off. I heard it again -- like someone was trying to break in. I woke her again, but she still didn't hear anything. Just when she was about to doze back off, she heard it. The guys were still sleep, so Nicky and I got out of the bed and were debating on who was going to go look. I ended up going.
I peeked around the bedroom wall and there was Sam (the guy who was on the floor sleep) trying to open the window, as though he wanted to get out. I was so shocked and in disbelief of what I was seeing. I said, "Sam, what are you doing at the window?" Yet I could also see him asleep on the floor! I mean I was looking at him on the floor and at the window at the same time!
Nicky came in and saw the same thing. She and I did a double-take. All the while I'm talking to Sam at the window, Sam in the bed is yelling, "I'm right here! What are you talking about?" The Sam at the window had on the same clothes, glasses, hair -- everything. It was unbelievable. We still talk about that to this day.
