UFO in Northern Ontario

In 1969, my girlfriend and I were traveling back east along Hwy. 17, just about 50 miles east of Thunder Bay. Pretty rugged but beautiful country in northern Ontario. It was a warm bright and sunny day in late summer, and about mid-day.

Just up ahead, the highway curved to the south and we noticed a car parked by the guard rails on the side of the road by a deep gulch. Above the trees in the gulch was a huge, shiny, silver sphere hovering perfectly still. It was maybe 100-150 feet long and shaped like a balloon or the traditional cigar shape we hear about with stories of UFOs. There were no flashing lights or noise of any kind. The thing reflected the sunlight and made me squint while looking at it.

Well, we pulled over as well and stared at this thing. I actually got out of the car to get a better look as did the other two people in the other car. I can't remember any other cars passing during this period, but in what seemed like only a minute or so the thing simply vanished from sight. I can't say if it moved away or simply vanished.

I looked at the people in the other car and shrugged my shoulders and they in turn shrugged theirs as if, What the heck was that?. We then got in our respective vehicles and drove off without saying a word.

I still feel to this day that somehow time was stretched on us in some way, although for how long I couldn't say for certain. My girlfriend, Linda (now my wife) and I seldom mention the incident as it's almost a cliche nowadays.
