Every year, tons of people flock to the malls the day after Thanksgiving to find the best deals possible on Black Friday. My family is no exception. We visit my grandmother's house in middle Tennessee for Thanksgiving and always pile up in my brother's SUV to go shopping on Friday.
A couple of years ago, we were on just such a trip when I saw something in the sky that I've never been able to find an explanation for.
We had to take a 40 minute trip on the interstate from my grandmother's house to a nearby mall where we always like to shop. As we pulled out of the parking lot of the mall, I was sitting in the very back of the SUV looking out the window when I noticed what seemed like a large silver shaped disk in the sky in the distance.
At first, I thought it was maybe just the top of a light pole from the parking lot, but all the other lights were square in shape and painted a dark brown color, while this was a silver disk not attached to any pole or anything else that I could see. I kept assuming that it must have been something natural as we merged onto the interstate and headed home, but I saw that out my window, there in the distance, the thing was still up in the sky despite the fact that we'd left the mall well behind us. It stayed in the same location for miles hovering over distant mountains.
My ten year old niece was sitting beside me, and I jokingly nudged her to say there was a UFO in the sky, but she couldn't see it because it was too high up for her to see out the window from her seat. I kept looking back and forth at her and the object trying to point out to her where it was, but it had suddenly disappeared when I looked back out the window. I'm still not able to understand what it was I saw in the sky that day that followed us for miles, but I keep trying to come up with some explanation for that large silver disk I saw.
