WE PUT OUT the call for your predictions for 2010 and you delivered! As we do every year on this website, we ask readers to give us their best predictions of events for the new year. Some see things brightening in 2010, while others see more economic hardship and worsening wars. There will be technological breakthroughs (cures for cancer and AIDS are predicted every year), and startling discoveries and revelations will be made in the realm of the paranormal. Of course, we'll review the accuracy of the predictions at the end of the year. Thanks to all who contributed their predictions. There were so many I could not publish them all here, so my apologies if yours are not listed. (You can read more posted on the Paranormal Forum.) Without further ado, your predictions for 2010:
BEST WORLD OR NATIONAL (U.S.) EVENT
Business and Economy:
- General Motors will merge with a rival European company in order to survive. - Thomas Lee Rhymes
- A period of economic growth appears to be turning the economy around starting in March. Unfortunately, it's just a flash in the pan and things will turn sour again in June. - Angel Deppeler
- Advances in food production will create needed jobs in the U.S. and also help to reduce hunger due to streamlined distribution of fresh foods through new entrepreneurial co-ops. Not-for-profit farms will increase as people become more aware of the advantages of grassroots operations, with laid-off managers taking the initiative. - Barbara Mater
- Unemployment rate in the USA drops steadily after June 2010 to 8.5% at year's end. - Michael Boland
- The Dow Jones IA rises to 11,800 by summer 2010, but rolls back to 11,100 at year's end, finishing the year up 4 to 5%. - Michael Boland

- Due to economic realities, people will start to put off retirement until age 75 and even 80. This will ease the strain on Social Security and other pension systems. - James Surratt

Marijuana:

- The USA and Russia agree to substantially reduce stockpile of nuclear weapons. - Michael Boland

WORST WORLD OR NATIONAL (U.S.) EVENT
Business and Economy:
- The final collapse of the U.S. money and the start of an armed revolution. - Martinus
- Civil unrest here in the U.S. as politics divides our country right down the middle, possibly Texas seceding from The Union; militias being formed. Crime and violence will rise as the economy takes a downward spiral and people become desperate for everyday necessities due to lack of jobs. - Mary Elizabeth Berry
- The US Postal Service will suffer its greatest financial loss yet, due, in part, to the new e-readers and email. As the Postal Service declines, UPS and FedEx will find more reasons to merge. - Thomas Lee Rhymes

- A major drop in population of the world due to death from severe allergic autoimmune response to all the chemicals that are in our food, water, soil and air. - Creepycat
