WE'RE FAST APPROACHING a new year. What changes, surprises, tragedies and wonders does it hold? Can you see it? Can you sense what's going to happen in 2009, for the U.S. or on the world stage? Whether you're clairvoyant, a sharp observer of the times, or just a good guesser, we want to know what you predict is going to happen in 2009.
Every year around this time we invite readers to submit their best predictions for the coming year. There are seven categories:
- Best World Event
- Worst World Event
- Best National (U.S.) Event
- Worst National (U.S.) Event
- Greatest Scientific Discovery/Invention/etc.
- Awards Predictions (Oscars/Grammies/Nobel Prize)
- Other Predictions
You may submit predictions for any or all of these categories, but please keep it to just one or two predictions for each category. And keep in mind that these are predictions for 2009 only, not for events beyond that.
There are two ways you can submit your predictions. You can go to our Paranormal Forum (where this tradition began), and post them there. Just go to the "Your Predictions for 2009" section of the Forum and REPLY with your predictions. Or you can simply e-mail them to me at: paranormal@about.com
The deadline is a short one, I'm afraid. All predictions must be posted or e-mailed by December 31, 2008. That gives you about three weeks in which to gaze into your crystal ball, read your tea leaves, consult your magic mirror on the wall, or whatever you do. I will publish the most interesting predictions in an article sometime in January, 2009. Because I receive so many predictions, there is no guarantee that I'll use yours; I certainly cannot publish all of them. So make them your very best and most significant predictions.
2008 PREDICTIONS
We need to do better for 2009 than we did for 2008. Unfortunately, there weren't many correct or accurate predictions last year. You can read all the highlights in the "Predictions for 2008" article. Here are a few that might be considered hits:
- Green energy will become even more prevalent.
- The violence in Iraq will drop by over half of what has been seen lately.
- No major terrorist events are forecast for North America.
- A definite earth-like planet will be discovered circling another star.
And here are some spectacular misses:
- Death of Fidel Casto by June, 2008.
- A new prophet will also solve some very long unsolved murders (Jon Benet and Natalee Holloway) as proof of who he is.
- Man will travel inside the earth, and what he discovers will change human life on the surface.
- An inexpensive and efficient power source will be announced and sweep the world.
- President Bush will introduce the aliens. He will show a doll, an alien doll, and the aliens will be known.
- There will be a Republican President elected in 2008.
- The zombies will take over.
I know we have many psychic readers out there. Focus, concentrate, peer into the future and tell us what's in store for us in 2009. We like to be prepared.
