More than just a bump in the night
Over the weekend members of the Smoking Gun Research Agency (SGRA), headquarted in Westport, met to discuss and plan its eighth annual Paranormal Convention (ParaCon), which is scheduled for next month in Milford. Established in 1997 by Westport resident Jon Nowinski, the group is dedicated to presenting the facts on paranormal activities, such as ghosts or unidentified flying objects (UFO), through scientific research and field investigations. According to its Web site, www.sgra-media.org, although they are centralized in the New England area, there are more than 700 members worldwide…

Does a giant crater lie beneath the Antarctic ice?
Evidence of a cataclysmic meteorite impact has been unearthed in Antarctica, according to researchers who say the collision could possibly explain the greatest mass extinction ever seen on our planet. But scientists contacted by news@nature.com say they are skeptical, as no signs of such an enormous impact have been found in other, well-studied areas of Antarctica…

That’s one small step ... on Mars?
Do Martians wear size-11 shoes? Or do we have evidence that the Mars rover missions are merely a hoax — an "X-Files" conspiracy as far-reaching as the fake trip to Mars portrayed in the movie "Capricorn One"? One of the pictures in our latest "Month in Space" roundup led some readers to ask those kinds of questions. Toward the left edge of the 10th image in the set, you can make out a waffle-shoe kind of pattern in the sands of Meridiani Planum…

Green Swamp Ape
Speaking in Texas on June 3, 2006, here’s a sneak peek at what I’ll be showing related to the 2004 Jennifer Ward sighting of the Green Swamp Ape. Jennifer Ward’s sighting has been difficult to understand, and place in context. But I think it has a lot to do with how shocking her initial drawing was. Her first attempt to draw the creature was elementary, but especially surprising in one detail: the light patches encircling the eyes…

All those tracks in the woods lead to enduring mystery
Pattie’s Home Plate in St. Johns is an old-fashioned soda fountain, a place where you can get a burger, fries and a malt, and eat them sitting at the curving luncheonette counter. Neighborhood folks gather here regularly to discuss the weather, local events and, on the last Saturday of every month, Bigfoot. Ray Crowe founded the Western Bigfoot Society in 1991, and later renamed it the International Bigfoot Society after members signed up from France, Switzerland, England and other countries…

Hoax? New York Bigfoot Photos
Here are the original photos that the readers of Cryptomundo demanded. They have been cropped for size, but the subject in the thumbnails below is the original size. The zoomed-in version that you get from clicking on the images below were blown up 200%...

Other Bigfoot sightings in Western New York in the last 8 years, most of which were in North Eastern WNY
Nik Halaszi posted a comment on my previous post about Mr. Foot concerning an encounter he had in the Akron/Clarence area in 1998. Mr. Halaszi's 1998 sighting happened 5.5 miles away from Hans Mobius' horse farm. This was the first time I ever heard about his encounter. The sighting is reported on The Bigfoot Field Researchers Org's (BFRO) website. They list the sighting as a "Class B" report…

Tahoe Tessie
Lake Tahoe is cool. In the summer, the weather's always great up there, the scenery is fabulous and the lake hosts an excellent cold water fishery. That much we know for sure. It's the unknown, however, that really fires me up about fishing the lake. If you talk to anybody who's spent some time on Lake Tahoe, you'll hear the stories - tales of monstrous creatures that lurk in the depths. There are stories of encounters with strange, unidentified beasts. In fact, you may have already heard of "Tahoe Tessie" - the dinosaur like critter that is rumored to live in the lake…

Rubbly Itokawa revealed as 'impossible' asteroid
The small asteroid Itokawa is just a loosely packed pile of rubble that collected after a collision between asteroids, according to a slew of new studies based on data from Japan's Hayabusa spacecraft. The asteroid appears to be plagued by recurring impacts and tremors today, making its continued survival a mystery…

Did man walk on the face of the Moon?
Now, why would any respectable publication question whether man walked on the face of the moon? After all, there is overwhelming evidence to prove it, yes? Check out Wikipedia for a quick guide to the nearly insurmountable evidence regarding lunar landings at http:// en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_moon_landing_hoax_accusations, and you will feel assured very quickly that man did land on the moon, not once but several times. However, does it mean that those who choose to question the evidence are lunatics obsessed with conspiracy theories? Not necessarily…
