A village of curses?
In the far upper corner of northwestern Connecticut, not far from the historic town of Cornwall in the shadow of three mountains, lies a place where only the bravest of hearts tread. Once a colonial village called Dudleytown, it is said to be the site of mysterious deaths of residents in the 1700s and 1800s, unexplained madness in the 20th century and tales of strange noises and wraiths in the past 50 years. Through word of mouth and the reach of the Internet, Dudleytown has become something akin to Connecticut's "Blair Witch" forest...

Can Christians believe in ghosts?
Many snicker as a science educator speaks of "monsters", "mystery creatures" and "ghosts", but a more troubling question is, not infrequently, posed to me around Halloween: Is it acceptable for a Christian to believe in ghosts?...

'Victim of the Beast 666' Tombstone
This gravestone is somewhat of a legend in Salt Lake City. I had heard vague stories about it for years, and finally found good online directions to finding it. I set off to see it for myself and since have become somewhat obsessed with discovering the true story behind its mysterious, dark inscription. Part of its unfolding legend seems to be mystery itself...

Haunted houses don't always spook buyers
Sites of murders or suicides often sit on the market, but friendly apparitions don't seem to deter people looking for a home. Oh, no, not the attic. Anywhere but the attic. But the visitors insisted on going in. The house's owner reluctantly opened the attic door and stepped aside as her two visitors trod into the gloomy room. "All I know is we walked into the attic with her, and it's cavernous, and we were just looking hard, and, I don't know, this feeling came over me -- this warm feeling," Craig Schaible says. "I looked at my wife and she felt it, too”...

The top 50 cryptids from around the world
Cryptids are the yet-to-be discovered animals or recovered supposedly extinct zoological species that are being sought by cryptozoologists, zoologists, anthropologists, and other researchers through fieldwork in the wild, reexaminations of specimens in zoological collections, and searches of archival materials. For Loren Coleman, it all started with the Abominable Snowman (Yeti) in 1960, and then moved quickly to an awareness of a world filled with cryptids...

Everyday apparitions
Ever since Elizabeth Graeme Fergusson died in 1801, her ghost has haunted Graeme Park, the Horsham mansion where her family once lived. At least that's the legend associated with the preserved state historic site, also known as the Keith House, for more than 200 years, according to Beth MacCausland, a member of Friends of Graeme Park...

Ghosts are big business. For entities that may or may not exist, they seem to be everywhere, especially during Halloween. They are in books and on television shows, such as CBS's "The Ghost Whisperer" and NBC's "Medium." Dozens of "ghost hunter" organizations exist across North America, small groups of self-styled ghost buffs who lurk around reputedly haunted places, hoping to glimpse or photograph a spirit...
