Pawn shop Chupacabras
What is this? What could this be? This is a body of what Dave’s Pawn Shop claims to be a Chupacabras in a display case at the downtown El Paso, Texas shop. What do you think it might be? It does sound as if the shop has a number of gaffs, including mummified FeeJee mermaids, a supposedly shrunken head, and Pancho Villa’s alleged trigger finger. Is this one different? Is it a Chupacabras, as indicated in an article from the El Paso Times?..

A “Keelian attitude:” Nick Redfern on “the crossover problem”
Nick Redfern addresses the issue of flesh and blood/nuts and bolts researchers vs. the “Keelian attitude” towards UFOs and Bigfoot, Nessie, etc. This is a topic very dear to my heart. and I’ve commented here and elsewhere (Trickster’s Realm, etc.) on the bigfoot-UFO relationship. I often ask myself why this split is so fierce; I can understand it a bit more from the flesh and blood Bigfoot side more than the UFO side of the Fortean fence, but it still doesn't seem sensible to me. As Nick points out, the investigation of one realm by a researcher of another would mean that “both camps are in dire need of an overhaul, in terms of what is really going on”...

Texas Thicket encounters
Bobby’s story originates in the heart of Texas’s notorious Big Thicket forest. As some of you may be aware, the Big Thicket is an area that has been linked with high-strangeness of both a ufological kind and cryptozoological kind for decades...

Fortean = anti-evolution? Shouldn’t be
Why is creationism associated with Fortean topics?..

Local psychics use powers to help
Psychics don't always answer calls on hotlines or go on talk shows with claims of the fantastic. They don't see the future or sit by waiting for the latest in a long line of divine prophecies. In fact, a lot of those who believe they have the sixth sense are much more normal than a Nostradamus, Jeane Dixon or La Toya Jackson. They have families and lives and day jobs. But beyond the day to day, they have another side - one that they believe is beyond simply "psychic," a term some think is overused...

Clairvoyance and healing at church
Mediums are leading services in Biggleswade with the opening of a new spiritualist church this week. The service includes healing and clairvoyance from the medium taking the service. But Haynes resident Brian Lloyd, who organised the church with friend Cherry Smith, was quick to debunk misconceptions about spiritualism. He said: “We get involved in helping people, not just at church, but everybody. We’re not doctors and we don’t diagnose, all we do is try to give help...

Ghost-hunter
Claire Moat, 48, is moving to Bridlington from Ferryhill in County Durham, having hunted ghosts and ghouls since she was 18. She has worked for the Royal Ghost-hunting Society in London and worked around the country before moving in the north-east. Now she is bringing her spook-spotting powers to Bridlington and requires a team of dedicated ghostbusters to accompany her...

Photo of Russian Bigfoot?
Bigfooter Ray Crowe of the International Bigfoot Society shares with Cryptomundo a photo he received from Russian cryptozoologist Valentin Sapunov...

Mystical figure interests Jim Carey
In the mood for something new, Jim Carrey seems especially receptive to all things "23." The actor stars in The Number 23, a thriller that will open, appropriately, on Feb. 23. Carrey plays Walter, a suburban father and dogcatcher leading a normal life until the day his wife (Virginia Madsen) buys a strange book, written anonymously, about the number 23. Suddenly their lives start falling apart, careening into mayhem and murder...

Psychic drawn to missing teen case
The real-life psychic portrayed in the NBC show “Medium” has taken an interest in the search for a missing Gilbert teen. Three weeks have passed since volunteers and police first combed the desert northeast of Fountain Hills in search of Jackie Hartman, a 19-yearold student at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Hartman’s family and friends continued the search Saturday, paying little attention to the insights from psychic Allison DuBois, a Phoenix native...

Tampa Bay Bigfoot
Some say Bigfoot is real and some say it is a myth. However, new sightings now have some scientist looking for it in the Tampa area. "I'm six-foot-five and this thing towers way over me and takes running strides of 13 feet," said Bigfoot field researcher Michael Greene. Members of the "Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization" believe the giant primate may live there, as well as many other locations around the world...

Those damned cattle mutilations
When we first encounter the cattle mutilation phenomenon, it seems very hard to digest mentally. At that point, predisposition takes over: Believers think it’s aliens doing genetic experiments, Fundamentalist Skeptics counter that it’s merely predators and scavengers who bring down livestock, drain their blood, and in some cases leave them out in back of the farmhouse, mere feet from sleeping ranchers. Both scenarios seem equally ridiculous...
