El Petizo: shadow creature
Cryptozoology is a category of odd "animals" that may or may not exist. Bigfoot is a member of this exclusive group, so is Nessie, a whole bunch of lizard people and loads of other near-mythological creatures. Normally though, sightings of these animals are purely visual with zero physical interaction. Occasionally this changes, and not only does a witness get to see an alleged phenomena, but they get attacked by it too. So it is with El Petizo, a creature sighted in Argentina that is apparently made of shadow. A boy there had to fight him with a shotgun and knife fairly recently, but his weapons were useless...
“Our Earth and Beyond” by Jan R. Adler shows the way to find true fulfillment and happiness—in this life and beyond
One of the most fascinating and compelling books to be released this year involves the major issues of our time and the survival of humanity. Jan R. Adler was the conduit for a message from Universe to 21st Century Earth that, since her death, is being promote3d by co-author Ron Oberon. It is actually two books that Oberon has been promoting on radio and at book fairs around the country, both that he believe are “vital for everyone to understand because the message contained therein must be taken to heart by the whole world.”..
Magnetic fields and haunting phenomena: a basic primer for paranormal enthusiasts
Reports of haunting phenomena are often characterized by two types of ostensibly anomalous phenomena that may repeatedly occur over long periods of time in a given location. There are subjective phenomena that tend to be experienced by our senses, such as seeing apparitions or ghosts, sensing an unseen presence (sometimes accompanied by feelings of apprehension or fear), and hearing various kinds of sounds that may either be suggestive of physical disruptions (e.g., crashes and banging noises) or be suggestive of a presence (e.g., voices, footsteps, doors opening and shutting)...
Madison County’s (Indiana) 1977 Bigfoot sighting
The strange experience 30 years ago of Mrs. Don Chestnut got significant coverage in the local press. An Indiana State Police report printed in The Anderson Herald on Aug. 11, 1977, said the Elwood resident spotted an “unidentified walking object” or UWO while driving on P Street before dawn the day before. “According to police,” the report read, “Mrs. Chestnut said she was driving from Elwood to Anderson to pick up her husband from work when she saw the creature in the road. The UWO was reportedly about 8 to 9 feet tall, with hair all over it, resembling a large monkey.”..
Fact or fiction: Fond du Lac's haunted history
It was just the wind. Wasn't it? Black cats and scary costumes aren't all that give people the heebie-jeebies on Halloween. A number of Fond du Lac area places are shrouded in haunted legend, according to several Web sites and books. Fact or fancy? You decide...
CFZ Guyana monster hunt
On the 14th November 2007, five members of the Center for Fortean Zoology – the world’s largest organization dedicated to the search for mystery animals – leave the UK for South America, on their most ambitious expedition yet. They will be searching the remote swamps and jungles of Guyana. They are looking for three elusive, potentially lethal, and hitherto undiscovered animals...
Is there anybody there?
This essay is on Spiritualism, and I doubt if any subject has had so many essays written with the same title. This is because the question is fundamental to the practice. When a medium attempts to contact the dead, she asks a double-edged question. So IS there anybody there? Is the question a general inquiry as to if anyone has come through yet, or is it more fundamental? Or is it a skeptical inquiry, trying to decide whether there could be anyone there in the first place?..
British mediums help find missing soldier’s remains
Soon after her soldier son Blake Hartley (centre) went missing in France three years ago, Sally Perrin’s attempts to find him led her to two British mediums, Gordon Smith (left) and Dennis McKenzie (right). She hoped they would tell her that he was alive and maybe, for whatever reason, had defected and was living happily in Spain or Italy. But both confirmed, independently, that Blake was dead and his body was in a river...
Thomp in the night: An encounter with Bigfoot
It is risky to admit belief in the existence of Bigfoot, Mothman or Chupacabra. As The Bee's Dan Vierria noted in a recent story, people who claim to have encountered these woodland creatures tend to get laughed at, derided and dismissed. But I refuse to be cowed by the nonbelievers. Bigfoot is out there, and I encountered him (or a cousin) in the summer of 1967...
Rick Fisher was 7 years old when he had his first paranormal experience. He was sleeping at his grandparents' house in the Manheim Township village of Eden, off New Holland Pike. "I woke up one night and looked out in the hallway and there was a man standing out there," he remembers. "He was in the dim light. I thought it was my grandfather at the time."..
Frightening trend: ghost tourism booms
Just about every city has some supposedly haunted mansion, cemetery or lunatic asylum ("if you listen carefully to the wind on moonless nights, you can hear the screams of the insane…"). Most cities, in fact, have at least one company offering tours of their spookiest places...
