The magic of Stonehenge
A handful of scraps of charred wood and a little pile of stone chips - finds from the first excavation at Stonehenge in more than 40 years - have added thousands of years to the history of one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments. There was no gold or bronze, but to the archaeologists who led the excavation, Professors Tim Darvill and Geoffrey Wainwright, the unlovely heap of finds is real treasure. They are convinced the stone chips are evidence of belief in the healing power of the "bluestones" brought 150 miles from south Wales, which endured long after the monument was thought to have been abandoned...

The Duke of Rothesay is to visit a haunted refurbished Scottish castle with strong links to his family. Braemar Castle is now being restored by the village community – and Prince Charles will see the work for himself on Tuesday...

Palin once blessed against 'witchcraft'
A grainy YouTube video surfaced Wednesday showing Sarah Palin being blessed in her hometown church three years ago by a Kenyan pastor who prayed for her protection from "witchcraft" as she prepared to seek higher office. The video shows Palin standing before Bishop Thomas Muthee in the pulpit of the Wasilla Assembly of God church, holding her hands open as he asked Jesus Christ to keep her safe from "every form of witchcraft."..

"Something is here"
Adam Korbitz: “Something is here.” Remember those words. It’s cool here in Paris, but things are heating up at the SETI symposium currently under way at the UNESCO headquarters, sponsored by the International Academy of Astronautics. This is my third report from the conference. Tuesday was an intriguing day, particularly the presentation by Alain Labeque of the Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale in Orsay, France, which took an unexpected and -- for me -- shocking turn...

According to McCormick, numerous psychics as well as paranormal experts have toured the house and have all come out with either overlapping conclusions or interesting evidence of the ghosts' existence. Multiple psychics have told McCormick about a man who tends to inhabit the library...

Sasquatch footprint found
Local Sasquatch hunter Larry Sommerfield’s convinced he’s in possession of a cast of a footprint of the often-sought but seldom-seen creature. He’s reluctant to reveal how he came into possession of the 16-inch long cast except to say it was made in mid-August from a footprint found in a gravel pit just east of the Kitselas First Nation’s Gitaus subdivision east of Terrace on Hwy16...

Gypsy predicts £4.4m Lotto win
A good Samaritan has won £4.4 million - after a gypsy said she would win the lottery. Mother-of-six Ann Henry, 50, won £4,493,783 in Saturday's Lotto draw. She said the win was predicted by an elderly gypsy woman to whom she gave a sandwich and a cup of tea from her roadside burger bar and diner a fortnight ago...

Lair of the beasts: How to hunt monsters
One question I occasionally get asked when I’m lecturing at conferences is: “How do I become a monster hunter?” Well, I say, that’s a damned good question. For those of you who may want to take your interest in strange creatures to a whole new level, I have to stress that there are no college degrees available, there’s no impressive title like Professor of Monsterology, and there’s most definitely no bulging bank-accounts, Hollywood mansions or Ferraris...
