Historic house haunted?
A team of ghost-busters is investigating whether a historic house in downtown Clinton is haunted. Visitors have become convinced that the Small House, home to the Sampson County Arts Council, is haunted. The house was built around 1870 by Dr. Victor Small, and his boots are among the artifacts still on display inside. "Actually, one day we came in, and one (boot) was turned backward, and no one knows why," said Helen Kearns, marketing chairwoman for the arts council...

Sonny Graffo, 33, a barber from Stockwood, was studying travel and tourism at St Brendan's College in 1993 when he did a summer placement working in the souvenir shop...

Bigfoot lore draws believers, skeptics
Eric Altman, an old hand at Bigfoot investigations, believes there is something out there, but doesn't mind if people cast a skeptical eye on stories of larger-than-human, frequently hairy creatures roaming the countryside. "I don't expect anybody to take it seriously," Altman of Jeannette said Saturday between sessions of the 2008 East Coast Bigfoot Conference, which he organized...

The lair of the beasts: monsters of the skies
Whenever the subject of monster-hunting is brought up in conversation, there’s always a tendency to think that such things solely revolve around long treks into deep woods in search of Bigfoot and other hairy man-beasts, and expeditions to the shores of places like Loch Ness on quests for long-necked water-beasts. But that’s not always the case. Sometimes, chasing monsters involves something far simpler: merely looking up. Yep: we’re talking about giant birds, rumors of still-living pterodactyls, and even sightings of creatures similar to those portrayed in Stan Lee’s Harpies...

Marjim Manor: house has history of hauntings
Throughout its history, the large, two-story Marjim Manor has seen its share of tragedy and heartache. The ghost stories associated with the home all have their roots in that history, she said...
