The Lady in Blue still climbs the stairs
It was Friday the 13th, unusual in that it was the second time in two months for the day one in five Americans think might actually mean something. Maybe black cats or broken mirrors get their attention. Or maybe they turn that attention to ghosts. To many business owners on Lewiston's Main Street, ghosts, spirits, or whatever you want to call them, are very real. Morgan's Alley is rumored to be haunted by a spirit known as the Lady in Blue...

Scientists able to read people's minds
Having the ability to read someone's mind with a "thought machine" has come a step closer after scientists showed that they could guess a person's memory simply by looking at the electrical activity of their brain. Scientists have found that spatial memories can be "read" by a brain scanner so that it is possible to predict automatically where someone imagines themselves to be (the exact location in a maze, for instance) without actually asking them...

Hellhound stalking Cannock Chase?
Forget Bigfoot, panthers and UFOs...there's something even more chilling on Cannock Chase. It's time for the fabled Hellhound - a portent of doom - to take a bow-wow. Reports have been received on paranormal websites of the demonic dog roaming our area. The hound, also known as the 'ghost dog of Brereton,' has been seen on numerous occasions stalking the roads leading into Brereton...

Lea Spencer and Eliza Wager say they have noticed things go bump in the night ever since they moved into the property in Roxley Road, one year ago. Footsteps in the corridor, knocking on the wall, and floating white blobs known as orbs have left the couple spooked but curious...

5 facts about Friday the 13th
If Friday the 13th is unlucky, then 2009 is an unusually unlucky year. This week's Friday the 13th is one of three to endure this year. The first came last month. The next is in November. Such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years. The origin of the link between bad luck and Friday the 13th is murky. The whole thing might date to Biblical times (the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus). By the Middle Ages, both Friday and 13 were considered bearers of bad fortune. In modern times, the superstition permeates society...

Cow abducted by UFO?
A rancher in Las Animas County, Colorado made a shocking and gruesome discovery over the weekend. He found a mutilated cow by the Purgatoire River. The mutilated cow was discovered near the town of Weston, which is about 20 miles west of Trinidad. "First reaction, she's been mutilated," said Mike Duran. Duran's cow was found dead with her udders and reproductive organs missing. "No tracks at all," said Duran. "No blood, no predators," he added...
