The ghostly images voted best in the world
At first glance, they are barely there. But take a closer look and there's no doubting the phantom faces staring back at the camera. What's not certain is who they are... or how they got there. The pictures were entered into a competition to find the world's best ghostly goings-on captured on camera by amateur photographers...

Google Street view captures Victorian ghost walking in Cardiff
This creepy image was snapped by Google for its Street View map feature. It shows what seems to be a floating Victorian ghost in Cardiff, right near the Torchwood headquarters. According to the Telegraph, "experts" have been called in to analyze the photograph, because so many unsolved murders happened in this square over the centuries. A medium is quoted as saying the image is clearly a ghost, because no contemporary woman would ever dress like this. So for evidence we have retro fashion, and a blurry area that makes the woman's legs appear cut off. I say call in the Winchester brothers to investigate this one...

Loch Ness Monster obsession lives on
The first recorded sighting of a "monster" in Loch Ness was nearly 1,500 years ago. Apparently, a huge, ferocious beast leaped out of a lake near Iverness, Scotland, and ate a local farmer. Since then, the lore of Nessie has grown and grown. A photograph, taken in 1934 by a London doctor, seemed to show a dinosaur-looking creature with a long neck emerging from the water, and it fueled the Nessie obsession...

Boston Latin officials seek to quash 'vampire' rumors
A school administrator wants to set the record straight: There are no vampires at Boston Latin. The headmaster of the prestigious exam school took the unusual step today of sending a notice to faculty, students, and parents saying that "rumors involving 'vampires'" had begun spreading through the building Wednesday, causing disruption and anxiety for a number of students. Lynne Mooney Teta asked everyone's help in calming the school community down...
