Popular Annapolis nightspot also favored by spirits
Rams Head Tavern has procedures for hustling people out the door who try to linger past the 2 a.m. closing time. It's the ones who seem to want to hang around for centuries that make some on the staff come unglued...

Beware the ghost of Sacramento - Coloma Community Center
The little girl followed Elizabeth Harrison down the stairs, basketball in her hand. Once on the landing she dribbled it a few times before the ball got away from her. Unable to catch it, the ball went in another direction, down the hall. She ran after it and they disappeared through the wall and were gone. Strangely, folks tell us the wall has been put up since the days she was there as a schoolgirl. Amazingly cute, she is just one of the many spirits at the Access Sacramento (Coloma Community Center) Building in California. Charlie will tell you so. But then again, Charlie knows because he was one of the caretakers of the property when she was there, a clean-up maintenance man. Few are able to see him either...

The Splitback Demon
John Downes: The Splitback Demon is, from what I can gather, an anthropomorphic reptilian-human cross with a mane of vivid-red hair, a long tail and a rather ostentatious spinal fin. He also sports two red, glowing eyes, scaly skin, four-inch long talons, a purple-red cockscomb and a dog-like snout. He is said to be about 5ft tall, which suits me fine as a 50ft tall version, although much easier to spot, would be a damned site harder to lasso...

Thousands of Malaysian Hindus are seeking blessings from a group of wild boars believed to possess magical powers, shrugging off concerns about a global outbreak of "swine flu," a local newspaper reported Monday. The Sun reported a Hindu temple in the northwestern Malaysian state of Perak has been drawing a steady stream of thousands of visitors daily, eager to feed and touch dozens of wild boars...

What is it: Mexican mystery image
Loren Coleman: At Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende, just a block from the Jardin in the Centro, in Mexico, one may observe the many murals and galleries that line the arched walls. One of the murals (above) is identified by the original source as the “Chupacabras mural.” I noted the panic painted as occurring among the people when they saw this creature...

Spiritual seekers revel in the power of Egyptian pyramids
The Great Pyramid of Giza was one of the ancient wonders of the world, and even most travelers today would consider a trip to Egypt incomplete without seeing the pyramids. Star Charney, 56, performs a prayer outside the Great Pyramid at Giza. She welcomes the questions of skeptics. For some tourists, however, the pyramids and other sites are much more than stops on a sightseeing itinerary. These visitors view Egypt as an ancient sacred homeland, and they come hoping for a spiritual transformation...

Uri Geller
Paranormalia: Had a rather unexpected encounter with Uri Geller last week. He wants me to work on a writing project - nothing to do with the paranormal, but it should be interesting. It got me thinking about what a phenomenon Geller is...

Random reports of Bigfoot wearing clothes
In T. Peter Park’s recent guest blog on “cultural hominology,” he discussed the rare reports of seemingly adult-sized hairy hominoids said to be wearing human-type coverings...

Hempsted House: could it be haunted?
As she sat in the Joshua Hempsted House's modernized kitchen Saturday night, stooped casually over a quadrant-screen surveillance monitor, Christine Kaczynski could have been mistaken for a security guard ensuring nobody entered the premises. But Kaczynski, director and founder of the Connecticut Paranormal Research and Investigations Team, was scouring for evidence of unearthly intruders. Team members flitted across her monitor as they moved through the house to capture audio footage in the hopes that, upon later analysis, it would reveal whether the house is haunted...
