Absolutely. I have been scratched, burned, bruised, infected, energy drained and thrown down stairs by spirits of one kind or another. It amazes me how many amateur investigators take no precautions, get in serious trouble and then come to me for help.
Can you describe briefly the most frightening or intense case youve investigated?
That would be a toss-up between the Sallie House [in Atchison, Kansas] and The Peabody Mansion [in Oakbrook, Illinois]. Both cases involved demonic energy and physical and spiritual injury. They were both very intense and challenging. While extremely dangerous, I am always drawn to going back to both. I guess I am a bit of a paranormal adrenaline junky.
Your magazine, Haunted Times, is a very slick, beautifully produced publication. What do you hope to achieve with it?
Well first, thank you. We are all very proud of it. As a collective, we hope to produce scientific evidence of those things thought impossible by the old-line scientific community. While we do focus on researchers and those with a deep interest in the supernatural, we also hope to attract those people who are just taking an interest now. We have seen a huge jump in people asking what happens to us after we die since the horrible events of 9/11. Now that new science and technology are providing true proof of spiritual energy survival, it raises some new and interesting questions for the human race.
You also run Ghost Hunters University. Whats that about?
Ghost Hunter University (GHU) has just celebrated its two-year anniversary. It is an event that started in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After a high-profile investigation of an old tuberculosis hospital turned bed and breakfast. People would see the news report or read the article about the investigation and want to learn more. They contacted the owner of the b&b, and in turn he contacted me and asked if I would lead a public ghost tour of the property. I saw more of an opportunity to truly educate people in proper scientific paranormal investigation, so I set up the first event.
Consisting of a Ghost Hunting 101 class, Haunted History Dinner, fully interactive paranormal investigation of the property and evidence wrap-up session, Ghost Hunter University was a huge success. We eventually moved the event to haunted locations throughout the United States, including the Lizzie Borden House in Fall River, Massachusetts, The 1891 Castle Inn in New Orleans, Louisiana and The Jekyll Island Club Hotel, just to name a few.
Next year we are holding GHUs at Waverly Hills Sanatorium and the Whaley House, as well as many others. The full Ghost Hunter University schedule will be posted on the Haunted Times Magazine website.
