About 16 years ago, when I was about 24, my parents rented a little house in Slaterville, Utah from my mother's cousin. Slaterville is a tiny town to the west of Ogden, Utah.
My parents would tend my two-year-old son while I was at work, so I was over there almost every day. During that time, my younger brother came and stayed with my parents until he was able to move in with some friends. He was about 21 or 22.
There were numerous weird things that happened in this home. There was a tiny cold storage room in the basement just at the bottom of the stairs. It had a door that latched, but didn't lock. Whenever anyone in the house would argue or fight with one another, the door to that room would slam shut. We could hear the noise from all over the house.
Whenever we would come to visit, we'd set our keys on the kitchen counter. Mom would keep her keys and sunglasses in a little dish on the counter. When we were ready to leave, we'd go to get our keys and they wouldn't be there. After searching all over the house, we'd end up finding them either back on the counter or in some other random place in the house. It was almost as if "it" didn't want us to leave.
My mother's knitting needles would also mysteriously be pulled out of her knitting project and be found in odd places, like the corner of the bedroom closet. This would happen while nobody was home.
One day, my brother had come home from work around 4:30. He decided to lie down and take a little nap before my mom returned home. She usually arrived around 5 or 5:30 depending on the traffic. At around 5:15, he was lying there just dozing, not asleep because he could hear the noises of the house and cars on the highway (I-15 is about 200 yards from the house).
He heard my mother's car drive up the gravel driveway, the door open and shut to the car, the door open and shut to the house, and then he felt a pressure on the end of the couch like mom just sat down. He felt her tickle the top of his foot like she usually does when she's trying to wake us up.
He starting talking to her while his eyes were still shut. When she didn't answer, he opened his eyes and sat up. No one was there. About two minutes later, he heard the same sounds he had just heard, car driving up, doors opening and closing and mom walked into the room. It was such an odd experience.
We still talk about experiences we had in that house while visiting my parents. I don't think the entities were malevolent and never did any harm, but I do believe that whatever it was liked to play tricks and it obviously didn't like arguing and fighting.
