This series of incidents occurred between September 2011 and February 2012. I'm 18 years old, and at the time my boyfriend and I lived in Jacksonville, Illinois in the housing complex on the north side of town.
It was early one morning when my boyfriend got out of bed to watch TV in the living room. I decided to stay and sleep a little longer. When I was just about too doze off, all of my bottles of lotion and perfume were mysteriously knocked off of my dresser and thrown across the room. My boyfriend came and checked on me and we were both dumbfounded by what had happened. I picked up my belongings and put them back on my dresser and left the room. We basically brushed it off and went on with our day.
The next few days I noticed strange things happening, like doors opening and closing, our bed being pushed against the wall without anyone touching it, curtains moving on their own. It wasn't until the next morning I started realizing our home was probably haunted.
I was in the bathroom upstairs taking a shower with the door locked when I heard a loud knock on the door. Thinking it was my boyfriend, I yelled that I was in the shower. The knocking stopped for only a few minutes only to start again. I was so irritated by the knocking that I jumped out of the shower and swung the door opened and found no one there.
Needless to say, my boyfriend and I moved out of the house a few weeks later. The new home we are in has plenty of creaks and strange noises, but nothing like living in the housing complex.
