Pizza Poltergeist
This video was taken from a surveillance video at a Stocky's Pizza shop in Haughton, Louisiana on July 14, 2012. (The video is recording what is being shown on a surveillance monitor, which is why it looks hand-held.) Watch the upper left side of the screen. An ice cream scoop suddenly falls off the ice machine, seemingly without cause. According to the story surrounding the video, employee Lori Evans says there has been other ghostly activity experienced at the pizzeria and that the video is evidence of a haunting. Other activity claimed includes:
- a bottle of tobasco sauce hit an employee in the back
- a broom and dustpan inexplicably fell to the floor
- motion sensors go off for no reason
- the feeling of a "presence"
What of this video? Is it good evidence? Consider that the ice scoop was set atop the ice machine. I would assume that if the ice machine was on and making ice that it vibrates somewhat. Even if it vibrates only a little, repeated movement could be enough to knock the ice scoop from the top. In the video, it looks like it falls from the top of the machine rather than being swiped or thrown, as from possible poltergeist activity.
So the video itself is not especially good evidence, but we have to consider it in context of the other reported activity. An employee said she actually saw that tobasco sauce bottle, mentioned above, fly across the room. So a haunting is possible and further investigation might be warranted.
