Predictions for 2005

Visions of hope, disaster and innovation

By , About.com Guide

EVERY YEAR, we ask participants in our Paranormal Forum to post their predictions for the coming year. Some are dire, many are hopeful and others are just silly. Here are their predictions in several categories:

BEST WORLD EVENT:

  • Now that Arafat's gone, the new Palestinian government will take serious steps toward an agreement for peace with Israel in exchange for the creation of a Palestinian state. (Jillian5512)
  • There will be strides made in the Palestinians/Israeli peace situation. (Heart)
  • The Arabs in Israel decide to go home instead of blowing civilians up and killing each other. (MHaber2)
  • An international pact will be made with every major country in the world, prohibiting the use of firearms, missiles, bio/chemical war tactics, and melee weapons in war. Instead, all wars will be fought through armies of six at the most, in different deserts all over the world (like the Olympics). (NotOneOfUs)
  • Iraq and Afghanistan will have successful democracies. (twoparanormalpowers)
  • Fossil fuels will sharply diminish forcing us to use cheaper, more efficient alternatives. (Quaght)
  • Saddam Hussein is assassinated on his way to or from somewhere in confinement. (Danger2369)
  • Man of every race, religion, economic class and corner of the earth will be forced to slowly begin to tear down the conscious walls that divide men in order to survive bringing an increase in God consciousness, brotherhood of all men, and an enlightenment. (oneawareness)
  • A series of international summits, possibly concerning environmental issues, will actually usher in a new era in world's policies regarding nature - and politics in general. (LeLouvre)
  • We finally realize that trying to save the earth is useless and instead focus all of our resources on trying to make it possible to live when the polar ice caps have melted. (tyneandtyneagain)
  • Elections in Iraq result in US pulling out. Bush brings the troops home to protect the Motherland. (Mr. X)
  • European/Asian governments actually admit that there are unidentified objects that run around through our airspace and that they haven't the slightest idea what or who they are. US still denies this. (WhiteEgret)
  • End of reality shows on television! (diw222)

WORST WORLD EVENT:

  • The international green light has not yet been switched on for the US usage of its WMDs, but anti-insurgent application by both India and France of nuclear weapons will create a situation wherein the US will feel compelled to use its nuclear arsenal before 12/05 against our mortal enemy, Iran. (DianeDecay)
  • The Pope will pass away, he being the last of the Great Popes. There will be fewer and fewer priests that parishioners will leave the church in search of another. And some will even attend masses on the Internet. (JSURRATT2)
  • The UN is forced to reorganize while political watchdog groups go through its books in re: the oil-for-food scandal. Kofi Annan steps down. (Jillian5512)
  • There will be several attempts to cause problems on a US soil from differing terrorist fronts, but I do not see any as being successful. (Heart)
  • Weather will be even worse than it is now, more intense, more hurricanes, more typhoons, more tornadoes worldwide. (Heart)
  • The Arabs in Israel decide to blow up more civilians and continue killing each other instead of going home. (MHaber2)
  • ClearChannel will take over the wars, and sell commercials for the televised broadcast of each heavy metal war. (NotOneOfUs)
  • A famous tower will be damaged. I'm not sure which one it is, but maybe the Empire State building or John Hancock building. (twoparanormalpowers)
  • A massive earthquake in the Southwest USA. (Quaght)
  • More tsunamis will rush through the east. (Danger2369)
  • Another earthquake and tsunami in Southeast Asia; a huge earthquake hits southern US (California-Arizona), continuing significant changes in our weather patterns. A meteor could also strike the earth (possibly in the Indian Ocean). (oneawareness)
  • War with Iran and Syria starting in April. (diw222)
  • The death of a prominent moral authority; terrible floods in Europe, possibly also in the US, which will also be affected by a major earthquake and/or fire; a new disease will appear and, initially at least, spread rapidly. (LeLouvre)
  • America decides to invade North Korea. North Korea responds by launching nukes at the U.S. (tyneandtyneagain)
  • Pope John Paul 2 dies. (Mr. X)
  • The world will come to an end in 2005 (Aug.17 at 3:12 A.M. GMT to be exact). I have been predicting this each past year, and will continue to predict it each year in the future. Someday I will be proven right! (Drarhurwel1)
