Question: Was it a premonition?
"Can you help me with a premonition I had recently?" writes Wanda. "I was visiting a lottery house for STARS Air Ambulance with my mom. The home was closed, so we decided to check out the outside. As we drove by, I saw a child's swing set in primary colors in the backyard. I said, 'That's weird. Why would they put a playground behind such a beautiful house?' We drove around to the back to see where it was. It wasn't there! We drove around the front again to double check. Nothing! What kind of sign is this? A child's play set... that doesn't exist. Any insight you may have would be greatly appreciated."
Answer: There are no certain answers for an experience like this, Wanda, and the best we can do is speculate as to the possibilities:
- You imagined it. (Note: In Wanda's original letter, which I had to edit above for space reasons, she noted that her mother did not see the swing set and thought Wanda was "seeing things.") This might the case and would be the most "rational" explanation. The eye and brain and easily fooled, and what you saw could have been an illusion.
- It was a premonition, as you called it in your letter. Perhaps you caught a glimpse of a future event, where the future owners of the home set up a swing set for their children.
- Or maybe you saw a glimpse of the past. Is it possible there was a playground on this spot before the new house was built?
- It was your own fantasy. Like the first possibility, this is an illusion, but one that goes deeper into your subconscious. Our minds work in weird and wonderful ways, and it's possible that in that brief moment you were projecting your own fantasies onto the scene: a desire to own a home like that for your family someday, complete with play toys for your children. From the tone of your letter, it is obvious that you really loved this house. The bright primary colors of the swing set, which made the vision so real to you, emphasizes the strength of this desire.
I hope you get that house someday!
