Scary Shadow-Being

BY NINA ZAIZAR

By , About.com Guide

This took place at my house in Michigan in 2007, around the fall. It was a normal night. I was drifting off to sleep when my little sister (whose bed is a feet away to the left) woke me by saying, "Nina, I'm scared."

I was already comfortable and very tired with heavy eyes, so I told her to come over and sleep in my bed so she could be quiet, for gosh sake. She did and, of course, took the spot toward the wall (my bed is horizontally against a wall) and I was on the outside.

I remember lying there waiting for her to fall asleep and finally closing my eyes, when guess what? "Nina," she says, "I heard something." At this point, I was getting fed up and told her to be quiet and that there was nothing there in the room with us, and that was that.

After my sister said that, I did begin to feel uneasy and wondered why she said that. (I know a lot of kids are scared of the dark, but we had a night-light at the end of our bed on the wall.) I decided to try and brush it off. But I just couldn't at all.

I suddenly felt this very uneasy, thick atmosphere in the room (like when you're waiting for something to happen, because you just know) and I started to get a feeling that something or someone was at the foot of bed, a few feet away.

I waited, and while looking at the floor-space between our beds, I saw in the light from the little night-light, a shadow-like figure crouched down (like on all fours) but with no features like a face. The weird part was that its arms were only as far as it elbows and then there was no arm after, along with the legs, it only went up to the knee!

It crawled from the bottom of my sister's bed and to the foot of mine, where I couldn't see it. I swear, my heart was beating so fast. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I tried my best to ignore it and fall asleep somehow.

After about a minute or so lying there in shock, my sister said, "Nina, something just scratched my foot." That's what really creeped me out. Trying to dismiss her comment as a kid with a wild imagination, I ignored her and told her once more to go back to sleep.

The next day, my sister broought it up and said something had touched her foot, and then showed me an 2-inch long red scratch on the bottom of her foot. I was terrified and admitted seeing something. I don't know what that was, but it was the only time I ever saw it again or anything similar. Thank God!
