I have lived in Chicago my whole life, but it seems since the day I first saw a shadow person when I was five years old, they have been following me and tormenting me. But they are never the same entity. I am now 20 years old, but I still fear the shadow people.
My first experience was in 1997. I had just finished saying goodnight to my mother and was on my way to my bedroom. Just as I was passing the kitchen, I had just happened to glance over at the kitchen table and saw what I now know as shadow man.
He was sitting in a chair, but seemed to be about six to seven feet tall. He had a top hat and a cape or a long coat. He had small white glowing eyes, but no other distinguishable features since he was merely just a solid silhouette. But he was the most purest of darkness I had ever seen. And even in the darkness of the kitchen his outline was a solid contrast. And even though he was a silhouette, I could somehow distinguish the fact that he had his legs crossed and with his right hand, had pulled up the cape/long coat to cover most of his face.
Unlike most of the shadow people I have since seen, this one didn't vanish. I stared at him for what seemed like an eternity, but in reality was only about 10 seconds. After finally coming to my senses, I threw my hands over my face and turned to run back to my mother's room. Upon hearing my story, she immediately thought there was an intruder in the house and went to turn on the kitchen light only to find nothing but a single chair that had been pulled out. The chair he had been sitting in.
I must have been so terrified that I don't recall how I even fell asleep that night. But that was only the beginning of the nightmare, because since that day I have been visited countless amount of times by shadow people, mist/fogs, or even invisible entities that just make noises and whispers. Sometimes they even touch me even, although I always thought it wasn't possible for them to make physical contact like that.
But I have not lost all hope. I found after reading other stories that there are things you can do to help. Whenever I hear and feel them nearby or approaching my vicinity, I simply close my eyes and imagine a glowing bubble around me. Like if there was a way I could manifest all of my positive energy into a visible protective field, that's what it would feel and look like.
And it works. They don't enter my room for the rest of the night most of the time. I don't fully understand these entities and I probably never will, so all I can do is pray.
