This experience came to me and my girlfriend of the time, Helen, when we were students. I was a student at Montreal University and Helen was studying at the musical school Vincent d'Indy. She was very stressed by a specific homework assignment that involved making a paper timeline of the various musical eras. I have the feeling that this had to do with the experience we both shared.
I was staying at her apartment that night when she was in the process of finishing this homework. When I woke up the next morning, I looked out the window in a half awake/half asleep state, maybe, and saw the town of Montreal as it probably was before it was highly populated. The Oratorio (Oratoire St-Joseph) was only a little church. I remember Helen awakening beside me and saying how beautiful this sighting was. And there was no sound -- just a beautiful sunrise over a historical Montreal city.
Then as I reasoned logically about what I was seeing and thinking -- I could not even see this through the vantage point that were we were sleeping -- the "vision" disappeared more or less like an hologram picture. I asked Helen if she had seen what I had seen, and upon comparing notes, we agreeed that we were seeing the same thing.
Even today I am still unsure what had happened. Were we seeing a different time sequence? Were we simply in the same dream that maybe she had created with the help of the stress of her homework about music through time? One thing for sure is that it was very clear and that we both witnessed (or created) this vision.
