Here's how to play. Presented here and on following pages are four stories of the unexplained. But only three of them are true (according to the people who experienced them). One was invented by your About.com Guide. Your job is to read all four of the stories and then vote for the one you think is false. Good luck!
Story 1: Amazing Synchronicity
Sometime in the 1980s, a Mr. Jenkins of Leicestershire, England experienced a remarkable case of synchronicity - a coincidence that seemed destined to be. Jenkins had traveled with his wife to Edinburgh, Scotland to visit their daughter. On a whim, he decided to look up McKirdy, an old friend from their days in the Royal Air Force. He hadn't had any contact with McKirdy in many years; in fact, he wasn't certain that his old friend still lived in Edinburgh - or was even still alive, for that matter. He consulted a phone directory and found only one McKirdy with the correct initial. Jenkins was about to dial the number, but reconsidered. He was reluctant to be embarrassed calling a total stranger if this proved to be a wrong number. Deciding to think about it some more, Jenkins decided to continue on with a sight-seeing tour with his family. As fate would have it, however, the tour was canceled because there were too few participants.
Then Jenkins looked for a public phone so they could call their daughter, and found one near a taxi stand. While his wife made the call, Jenkins paced near the street. Just then, a taxi pulled up to discharge a passenger. By chance, Jenkins looked into the cab and could see the displayed name of the cab driver. Unbelievably, the driver of the taxi was his friend, McKirdy.
