Ever since my Sheltie, Mitzi, died, I've had an unsettling feeling in my house... like she isn't quite all gone. Last night confirmed my suspicions.
My husband was at work and I was home alone, flipping through the TV stations. That's when I heard a low whimper, exactly like Mitzi used to make, come from behind me. I immediatly turned down the TV and strained my ears but heard nothing else so I tried to convince myself it was something on the TV, even though deep down I knew it wasn't.
At one point during the night, I had put the TV on mute; not long afterward I once again heard a low whimper. Only this time it was directly behind me! I whirled around -- to find nothing there. But I jumped up and made for my neighbor's house, deciding being within the company of people was better than being alone that night.
That's when I heard light thumpings from above. Like when Mitzi would scamper across the floor upstairs. I grabbed my purse, my keys, and was OUT of there as quick as lightning!
