In 1999, I was 12 years old and we had just moved to a new home in Aurora, Colorado. I've had a few "ghostly experiences" in my life, but I had always brushed them off.
One afternoon after school, I was in my room doing homework. My room was in the basement, and my door was closed this particular afternoon. I had my music on and was lying on the bed when I heard my little sister outside my room calling for me.
I turned down the music and yelled at her to leave me alone. She kept frantically saying, "Jessi! Jessi! Jessi!" This went on for a few minutes: me telling her to go away, and her frantically calling my name.
Finally I got up, opened the door and looked around. She wasn't there. I had came to the conclusion she was deliberately interrupting me, and marched upstairs to tell my parents.
When I reached the living room, my parents and my sister were sitting on the couch watching a movie. I told my parents what she had done, and they both claimed she had been sitting with them the whole time.
My mother took me aside and asked me to describe to her in detail what had occured. She then told me that after my sister was born, my mother had discovered she was pregnant and had unfortunately lost the baby.
Maybe this was the child that was trying to reach me? I guess I'll never know but I now look back on the story with a smile on my face and not the fear I had when realizing the voice was not my sister.
