This series of incidents happened the summer of 1994 when I was 12 years old. My parents were adding on to our house, which caused only a certain amount of space and rooms to be occupied at a time. Therefore, my eight-year-old sister had to sleep in my room, which she didn't seem to mind, seeing as my room was often the coldest during the balmy summer months.
The first night she slept in my room, we stayed up late talking and then eventually drifted off to sleep. What seemed like only minutes later, I heard my sister scream my name. I bolted awake and looked at her. She returned my stare with a horrified expression. When she didn't immediately respond, I asked, "What? Why'd you scream my name?"
She stammered a bit and then explained that she saw a dark figure leaning over me while I slept. Just thinking she was trying to scare me, I scoffed at her and told her to go back to sleep. She responded, "No way!" and leapt from her bed to run down the hall and spend the night with my parents. Annoyed, I settled back down and went back to sleep.
The next morning, as my sister and I were eating breakfast, I decided to poke some fun at her and began teasing her about ghosts. She looked at me very seriously and asked if I really wanted to know what exactly happened the night before. I simply shrugged and said sure.
She began to explain that after we stopped talking, I had gone right to sleep, but she couldn't and struggled all night to fall asleep. She said that's when she saw this figure seem to materialize out of thin air and slowly but deliberately start to lean down toward my sleeping body. That's when she screamed my name and the figure immediately straightened and turned to glare at her with orange-red eyes.
When I awakened, the figure vanished, but she was still looking at the place where it had been when I mistakenly thought she was staring at me. This story chilled me to the core, but we continued sleeping in that room all summer. In retrospect, maybe the reason that room was so cold was because of this entity that seemed to reside there. We no longer live in that house.
