Something really strange has been happening lately. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I just don't feel "right" in my own room anymore. Every time I walk in there, I feel really uneasy, and when I turn off my lights and try to sleep, an evilness seems to creep up out of nowhere and my heart starts to race, and I have really disturbing dreams.
Last night was the worst so far, and I don't know what to do at this point. It all started when I laid down to go to bed. I shut my lights off and closed my eyes. After dozing dreamlessly for a few hours, a loud clap of thunder that shook the house woke me with a jolt. I could hear the rain pounding against the roof and window panes. Every so often, lightning would light up my room through the two windows that I have.
At this point, I was starting to drift back to sleep, but every time I did, the thunder would stir me awake. I have no idea if I was dreaming or awake during these moments, but when the lightning flashed, I swear I was seeing the figure of a girl standing in the center of my room. Her head was down and her dark hair was obscuring her face from my view. She was wearing a short-sleeved white dress that hung past her knees. The dress had either a purple or black flower pattern on it. The lightning flashed again... and she was gone.
I immediatly assumed I just imagined her or dreamt about her. More thunder claps kept me from falling fully asleep. When the lightning lit up my room again, my heart froze as I saw the girl up in the right corner of my bedroom. Her arms were up touching the ceiling and her legs were bent at the knees, as if she was in a crab-like position. Again, her face was hidden from view, but at this moment I was beginning to realize with horror that maybe I was not imagining her after all.
Darkness consumed the room for a fleeting moment, but when the lightning flashed again, she was gone from the corner. Somehow, I fell back into a fitful sleep and I didn't see her again. Nightmares plagued my dreams and I was happy to awake to sunlight streaming through my blinds.
I got up to use the bathroom and when I returned, I was a bit more awake, but I stopped in my doorway, startled by the scene before me: My room was a mess! Clothes were scattered all over the floor and were hanging from the shelves. Books were everywhere, my trashcan was tipped over with trash spilling out. It was as if the storm from the night previous had somehow destroyed my room as well!
This is a mystery that I have no explanation for and I am petrified to go back to sleep tonight. I might have to smudge my room, I don't know what else to do at this point. This happened in rural southwestern Kentucky. I will keep you posted if anything else occurs.
