This very interesting photo was received from Elizabeth Tolomeo.
"I took this picture of my husband fishing at a very remote lake, Dorothy Dunn, in northern Wisconsin," says Elizabeth. "The lake has no boat launch and no homes are on the lake. We had to hike in to the lake through brush and weeds.
"I took the picture in early 1990s. It wasn't for some time after I had it developed it that I realized it appears that a young girl, possibly wearing a pinafore and bonnet, is off to the right of my husband. Everyone was so intrigued by the photo because there was nobody there. The image is quite clear." Go see it in the Gallery.

It does look like a girl in the photograph.
The lake isn’t quite as isolated as Mrs Tolomeo implies; it’s a 200 yard walk from a car park at the side of a main road. The lake is part of the local resort with ~15 hotels and lodges and a popular spot for fishing.
It *could* be a girl, but I’d be curious as to what colour backpack or coat her husband owned at the time?
Hmmm…I’m going to go with pareidolia on this one. For if you look at the zoomed in image, you’ll notice that the “girl” consists of the same colors of the trees, shrubbery and grass in the environment which could lead one to think they are seeing a figure when really it could be nothing more than a clever illusion.
I think it kind of resembles a little enslaved girl. With the the full dress and stuff. Is that a bonnet?
