Ghost from Russia
by Taylor

My grandmother became very sick, so me, my mom, and my dad all went to take care of her until she was better. I had gone to the library three days after we had gone to help her. I saw an older lady just staring at me, not even blinking. Everyone else seemed to ignore her, so I went on with my book findings. I thought about why that woman had been staring at me all night long, but didn't bother to tell anyone. My parents had gone to work, so it was just me and my grandmother. She asked me to get some cookie dough and milk from our local grocery store so we can have milk and cookies. So, I went.

As I was heading for our favorite kind of cookie dough, I saw the same woman. As I went up to talk to her, she handed me the milk! She said her name was Winifred Daugherty and she was visiting her friend. She said she saw me at the library and thought I was someone she knew. So, I said thank you and goodbye and was on my way.

When I got back, my grandmother asked me what took so long and I told her I had met an older woman named Winifred Daugherty and she came here to visit a friend. My grandmother yelled, "That's absurd! Winifred was my friend from Russia who came to visit me in May, but had died of a heart attack just before she could come and see me!"

I have never seen Winifred since then and hope I will never again.
