Demon of Cave Lake
by Gwendolyn

I'm a 47-year-old married lady with four grown children. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I came from a family with six children. We grew up in rural Nevada in a railroad town. My parents were avid deer hunters and once a year we took a trip to hunt deer. Our trips were based on where the tags were approved for. We got tags for Cave Lake area in what I think are the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We were all to drive our cars up to the mountains where we would select a camp site then make camp and get ready for an early day hunting.

The first night we set up camp in a circular pattern by a creek. The air was crisp and cold and I remember listening to the wind rush through the long grass by the stream. It was beautiful. I went to bed early. It was cold and I remember just having the very top of my head sticking out of the sleeping bag. I woke out of a sound sleep. I was terrified. I remember thinking that I was "seeing" what must have been an animal, except there was no sound. It was that hour of the early morning when things are the quietest. I could see him walking through the camp. Just looking at everything. He looked in the windows of our cars, at the people sleeping on the ground and in the cars. He walked past me, then he stopped, stepped back and planted a foot on each side of my head and laughed. His eyes were orange and I knew that he was evil. He didn't exactly have eyes like a person; the sockets where they should have been were filled with fire. I was terrified, but I knew that he couldn't hurt me here. I told him go away and he did.

The next day I was thinking perhaps I was hysterical or hormonal, so I asked if anyone had heard anything out of the ordinary. My sister looked me right in the eye and said she "felt" it too! I've never forgotten that. In fact I don't think I ever will.
