Unexplained Light

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and around June, 2006 I was five months pregnant. I was asleep in bed one night when a bright light was shining on me, causing me to wake up and open my eyes. It felt as if a torch was shining in my face. I noticed the light coming in through our half-shut bedroom door from the hallway. It was bright orange and in a few seconds it just faded away. It was about 3 a.m. and was definitely nothing that could be explained. I was so scared I put my head under the blankets and cuddled right up to my sleeping husband, afraid to even breathe.

I told him in the morning. He thought I dreamt it, but I knew this was not the case. I didn't think it would happen again, but the exact same thing happened the next night, except it was bright blue. It wasn't quite as scary, but I still didn't like it. I haven't seen it again, but I have been looking on the Internet for an explanation and haven't found anything. The house was just built, so I doubt it was haunted.
