The Lady in Blue
by Noel Brock

The Lady in Blue is about a ghost who has been with my mother's family for several generations. I know that for many of you, the idea of a ghost is unbelievable. At first, my family could not believe it either! How could I tell my husband and children that the ghost from my grandparents' large old home on the east coast of Florida is now in Georgia? The unusual part of this true story is that Alice the person lived in 1905 in the home that my grandparents later bought in 1938.

After mysterious happenings, which include an empty rocking chair that rocks and a sighting of "The Lady in Blue," they knew that their new home had a ghost. Later, as a child I had many encounters with Alice in the Florida home. Much to my horror, 16 years after my grandmother Cason's death, Alice resurfaces - this time in my home in Georgia.

My quest to find the answers about Alice led to laughter and to tears. Finally, I realized why she came to us. (I reveal more about this in my book.) Yes, I still live in my haunted house in Georgia with my husband and son. Alice still lives there, too. There are many books about the paranormal, but many of them are fiction. The Lady in Blue is about real people and places and a ghost with a name. Many occupants of haunted houses may know their house is haunted, but never actually know who is haunting it. I have the privilege of knowing Alice - in some scary and bizarre circumstances, to say the least! What makes this story so intriguing is that the ghost is known, she travels, and the haunting spans several generations. The Lady in Blue is a great depiction of real haunted houses.
