Ghost's Caress
by Claudia K.

This took place July-August of 2007 in Houston, Texas. When it comes to the paranormal, I call myself a skeptic who is willing to be proved wrong.

My husband and I had returned with our newborn daughter from an overseas job and settled into our first house. My biological mother (living in New Mexico at the time), with whom I have never been close, contacted me and came to see our new home and baby. She had been living with a much younger man for the last ten years or so. I had met him several times and liked him well enough. I'll call him "Adam."

Within a few weeks of settling into our home, my mother murdered her boyfriend while he was asleep in their bed, then brought his body cross country and buried it on a piece of property she owned in East Texas. It was her intention to never get caught. At the time, I knew only that Adam had been murdered, but did not know many details. His body had not yet been recovered.

A few weeks after learning of his death, my husband and I were asleep. I awoke to the feel of a hand caressing my hair. I snuggled into my husband and then realized his back was to me and his arms not around me! At the very moment I became aware that my husband could not possibly be stroking my hair, I felt myself being pushed into my pillow. I was terrified, but could not move or cry out, even though I was trying with all my might. Everything stopped as suddenly as it had started and I began crying and got out of bed.

It was hours before I could get into bed again. This occurred several more times over the next year. Sleep was a terrifying ordeal during this time period. This activity ceased, Adam's body was found, and my mother sent to prison for eight years. The memory of this terrifyingly event never left me and I sought answers on and off over the years.

I went to a lecture one evening by a woman whose seven-year-old child had been accidentally killed. She related how he visited her to let her know that he was okay. It was then that I decided that I had my answer. I believe that Adam was trying to let someone know what had happened in his last moments, especially since it was possible that he'd never be found. It seems very reasonable to me that my mother was drunk, stood over him, stroked his hair and that he began waking up. I believe that she then pushed him further into his pillow and then shot him. I've not been bothered since and I hope to never be again. Rest in peace, Adam.
