Nine-Year-Old Ghost
by Joseph Sciullo

This story happened to my ex-wife and I about 20 years ago, but still haunts us both to this day.

It was late one evening and I was walking my girlfriend home (before we were married.) We would always walk through a graveyard behind her house and say our goodbyes. This particular evening it was very bright out and we could see in all directions for quite a bit when out of the blue we noticed a young girl walking toward us slowly. As she approached, we could hear her saying, "Mommy, mommy, mommy." She came within one foot of my girlfriend's face and looked as if she was going to cry and said, "You're not my mommy."

We were both just totally baffled, and took our eyes off her for one split second as we looked at each other. We looked back at the little girl to help her, and she was gone – completely vanished in a tenth of a second. I could see clearly in all directions and she just vanished.

The last thing I was thinking was that we saw a ghost, and my girlfriend was so freaked out and wanted to leave right away. I guess it finally sunk in that yes, we had seen a ghost.

I recently went back to that graveyard to look for the grave of a young girl and sure enough, I found a grave of a girl who was nine years old. When I did some research at the local newspaper, I discovered that she "...died suddenly as the result of an automobile accident..." I feel that she must have wanted her mother very badly as she was dying and her spirit will not rest until her mother is with her. I would also like to add that this little girl was in full flesh and blood and dressed in a way that did not seem unusual to us; as far as we can remember she was wearing some sort of jeans and a tee shirt.
