Saved
from the Lake
by Jazzie
This story happend about five and a half years ago. My family and I used to go to a boat lodge in Scotland for the holidays. There was a long narrow path by the water that went around a bend and led to some grass where there were some swings. My brother and I were on the swings until we heard our dad calling, "Okay, kids, we're packing up now; get on the boat or we will go away without you." We knew he was joking, but we left just to make sure.
Instead of following the path back to the boat, which would have taken 10 minutes or so, we decided to run down the hill to the boat. The hill stopped right at the water, where out boat was. My brother Dougie went first and made it to the boat. Thinking it was easy, I ran down the hill but couldn't stop; my feet were inches away from the water. I couldn't swim then, and I knew if I fell in the lake, I would drown.
My family were all at the front side of the boat, so they couldn't have seen my predicament. I started fanning the air in a desperate attempt to stop myself from falling into the water, but it didn't seem to be working. I was inches away when I felt a sharp tug at the back of my jumper, and I was back on the path. I looked around and there wasn't anyone there. Whatever it was that pulled me back had gone. I believe it was my guardian angel helping me out.
