My friend had moved to an old house near the border of New York near the Berkshires. This was in late May 1998. I used to visit him often and he was always in a good mood. One day (about four months later), I go to visit him and he was FREAKED about something. I asked what was up and he told me I wouldn't believe it even if he told me.
After nagging him for awhile, he told me that he saw something sitting on his stairway (he owns a two-story house) while he was going for a drink (he said it was around 3:00 a.m.). Being dark, all he could see was a shadow-like figure, but the thing that scared him was its eyes. He said they were glowing. To be honest, I didn't believe this myself at first, so I offered to spend the night. Of course, I didn't see anything that night. So for a few weeks, nothing. My buddy was back to a normal state.
November came around and we decided to plan a camping trip with a few of our friends and, being in the Berkshires, we figured his house would be a great area to prepare. So some friends and I spent the night there. I woke up around 12:30 to go use the bathroom (which was upstairs). I came to the staircase and saw something. There was some moonlight that night and this thing was sitting right in front of me.
Thing looked like a cat with no skin or ears, a really long tail and its eyes were glowing. But that thing was much larger that a cat, and all it did was stare at me. I won't lie to anyone, I screamed like a six-year-old girl and ran back into the room (waking everyone else of course). They all asked me (in a profane manner) what happened? I told them that there was a freak animal in the house. None of them believed me except my buddy.
Next morning we all go through the house (armed with brooms, mop sticks, and kitchen knives) and there was no animal. At first I though it was a rat, but I have never seen a rat that big around that area. Not to mention the way this thing was sitting. Just like a cat. I haven't been to my buddy's house in years now, but call him every so often. He still sees it every now and then in the same place. I know this seems hard to believe, but if you are ever in the Berkshires, look for a big, two-story house (green with white windows) and ask for Billy. (He already said if anyone wants to see this thing, feel free to stop by and spend the night.)
