Pterodactyl on the Bridge
by Sharon

I am sorry to say that I do not remember the exact month, but I was 18 years of age, and the year was 1994. I was living in a house located in the east Texas town of Liberty, in an area named Moss Bluff, a very rural, swampy place, where this sighting occurred. It was a horribly stormy night. We had some friends over, and one of these friends, Terri, decided that she wanted to drive into town to rent a movie. The weather was scary as hell outside, and the shortest of the two roads that led to the highway was a winding dirt road with one paved bridge over a lake, and one torn-up wooden one.

Terri was stubborn, and planned to go despite our warnings, so I decided that I would go with her to keep a watch out. No sooner do we leave the driveway, it starts to hail a bit. I couldn't believe we were doing this. She was so stupid to think that a movie was worth risking our lives in this weather! She was driving horribly, due to the fact that we could barely see the road. I don't know what came over me, but in an instant, when I realized that we were going to be approaching that bridge over the lake, I began to scream, "Terri, the bridge, the f-ing bridge! Terri the bridge, the f-ing bridge!"

No sooner had I said this, we began rolling onto the bridge... and suddenly, right before us, on that bridge, stood a giant, glowing yellow, skeleton of what looked to be a pterodactyl! It's wings spanned out across the front of the car, about 20 feet on each side. It had a long spine-like neck with a huge beak and hollowed out eyes. It was all skeletal. With its long neck, it hung its head over the hood of the car as if to look at us in through the windshield. With that neck, it began to bob its head, back and forth, from either side of the hood.

We were terrified! I was in uncontrollable tears, and Terri was just plain shocked. We were both saying, "What the f-- is that!" We were stopped at this point, of course, and for approximately one minute, this thing appeared to us, bobbing its head over the car. We even had long enough to examine whether it was a trick of the headlights or something, but could only conclude that it was impossible, and right before us stood some sort of monster; the ghost of something out of this world.

Then, as if it were never there, it was gone. It vanished! The rain had slowed now. We continued to drive into town. I remained in the car crying, while Terri went to rent the video. The store was closed. After about 15 minutes, we decided that we had to take the same road back to the house. We wanted to know if it would appear again. It did not.

I had never seen it since, but was not so much interested in driving through there after that anyway. This was the most terrifying experience in my life. I have sought out information regarding spirits or demons that match this thing I saw, but have uncovered nothing for the last 13 years, until today when I decided to do some research online about pterodactyls when a friend made the suggestion. To my surprise, there have been many sightings of a similar giant bird, but each mention seems to be of something "alive."

On that night, we clearly saw the animated skeleton of what seems to be the pterodactyl. I believe we witnessed a ghost of this giant bird-like creature that once roamed that region. I still, despite the many accounts of sightings I have found out about today, have not read one mention of a ghost-like entity resembling this animal. I still do not know what to make of it, and this event changed my entire life.
