Grandpa's Light
by Steven Nikki

This story took place in San Diego, California at my mother's house when I was 12 or 13. I always visited my mom's house every weekend since my mom and dad were divorced. It had been about a month after my grandfather had past away. I had always seen my grandpa as a father figure moreso than my dad, so we were always close. My mom lived in a one-bedroom house and I would sleep on a little bed next to my mom's bed. I had slept there millions of times with no weird or freaky experiences.

We had just laid down and we were ready to go to sleep. After I closed my eyes, I saw a light, just like if you close your eyes and look at a street lamp or something. I thought it was the TV my mom turned on because it was flickering, but there was no sound. I opened my eyes when I saw a bright blue light the size of a silver dollar on the far wall by my mom, so I raised my head and looked around to see where the light might have been coming from. The door to my mom's room was closed and so were the blinds to the window (they had a blanket over them so light wouldn't come through in the mornings), so there couldn't be any outside presence.

When I realized it, I looked at the light again and my mom asked if I see the same thing that she does. I said yes as I got up and moved my way to the spot on the wall with the light. As I got closer I noticed it was shaking like it was vibrating. I slowly cupped my hand around it not to scare it (I believed it was a spirit by this point) to see if any light would hit the back of my hand so I could see where the light was coming from to be sure. I had no success so I moved my hand. To my surprise it was still there, shaking.

I decided to poke it with my finger as my mom was speechlessly watching. When I did that, it shot about a foot in a half across the wall. I did it again with the same reaction back to the original place. After playing like a cat with a laser pointer for a few times, I asked if my mom knew what it might be. She said, "Is it a ghost?" Then it came off the wall and shot across the room to a picture of my grandfather that my mom taped on the wall over where she sleeps. It circled the picture a few times pretty slowly after it seemed to be in a rush earlier. I said pretty loudly, "Are you my grandpa?" It then stopped and shook over the picture for about 10 seconds (which felt like forever) then shot straight up and into the ceiling where the wall and ceiling connects and disappeared.

After talking about it for awhile, we went to bed with no other incidents and to this day I remember that cause in my heart I feel that it was my grandfather or someone trying to ease me about where he is or if he is okay!
